India Express - Chandni Chowk - Delhi

Un petit voyage express en Inde (Merci Rohit !) et le plaisir de retrouver le vieux Delhi. 

Pour les chanceuses qui y partent en décembre voici la visite guidée ...

 A small express journey in India (Thank you Rohit!) and the pleasure to go back to old Delhi.
For the lucky ones who will go there in December here is the guided tour ...

 Se faire déposer au bout de Chandni Chowk (près du fort rouge) puis descendre la rue de Chandni Chowk pendant environ 5 à10 min. Prendre la ruelle à gauche, pour vous repérer c'est celle juste avant d'arriver au temple Sikh (avec son dôme doré). 

Try to get dropped at the end of Chandni Chowk (near the Red Fort) then take the Chandni Chowk street for 5 to 10 min. To take the alley on the left, to locate the right one keep in mind that it is the one just before arriving at the Sikh temple (with its golden dome).

 La ruelle a plusieurs magasins de bijoux en argent et de nombreux rickshaws vélo

The alley has several silver jewelry shops and numerous cycle rickshaws

 Remonter la ruelle sur quelques centaines de mètres puis une autre ruelle part sur la droite, c'est celle de Kinari Bazar (sinon demander Kinari Bazar si vous avez un doute), c'est le marché des rubans, dentelles, broderies ....

To go back up the alley on some hundred meters then there is another alley on the right, it is the one of Kinari Bazar (otherwise to ask for Kinari Bazar if you have a doubt), it is the market of ribbons, laces, embroidery ..

Sur la gauche de la ruelle la boutique de Puran Chand Gyan Prakash, un magasin de déguisement, vaut le détour. 

On the left side of the alley, Puran Chand Gyan Prakash, a fancy dress shop, is worth seeing.

 Demander à voir les masques en papier maché et ils vous feront découvrir leur salle à l'étage avec une incroyable collection de masques en papier

Ask them to see the paper mache masks and you will discover on the 1st floor their incredible collection of paper masks

 Il y a d'autres masques aussi un peu plus loin

A little bit further you will find more of these paper mache masks

 et ces murs colorés que j'adore !

 Un peu plus loin sur la gauche il y a une ruelle avec de jolies maisons colorées

A little further on the left there is a small alley with lovely colored houses

 

 Et les dobis = des repasseurs utilisant encore des fers au charbon 

And the dobis = the persons who iron the clothes, still using coal

 Des vendeurs de pan = feuille de bétel avec de la noix d'arec et du tabac que les indiens chiquent

Sellers of pan = betel leaf with areca nut and some tobacco which Indians chew

 Et une multitude de stands de street food

And many street food stalls

Au bout d'un moment la rue de Kinari Bazar se divise en 2, prendre à droite pour retrouver la rue de Chandni Chowk. Tourner à gauche et descendre Chandni Chowk pendant 10 à 15 minutes. Au bout la rue fait un T, prendre à droite c'est le début du marché aux épices

After a while the street of Kinari Bazar divides in 2, take the street on the right to find Chandni Chowk. Turn left and go on for 10 to 15 minutes. At the end the street makes a T shape, take the right, it is the beginning of the spice market

  avec ses incroyables porteurs ...

 Il est aussi possible de trouver un peintre ou un plombier, ils attendent les clients sur la rue avec leur matériel

It is also possible to find a painter or a plumber, they wait for the customers on the street with their equipment

Attention la circulation est dense, la solution de facilité est de prendre un rickshaw vélo, il y en a partout ! 

Becareful the traffic is dense, the easy way out is to take a cycle rickshaw, they are everywhere!
